My Rules of Life

Dear girls,
Here are some rules of life. My hope is that if you follow these, it'll help you as it did me to get UNstuck from common life problems. You what works, discard what doesn't, and remember - trust yourself and your inner voice over these rules any day. They are MY rules and may help - but feel free to write your own, add, mix, delete.  Love you.

Write OFTEN to get the garbage out of your head

Get the negative thoughts, the doubts, the crazy things you think and only you think OUT. The best way to do that is to write daily. There is a book called "Getting Things Done" - and in it, he talks about how if you don't write down tasks that we think about somewhere, it'll clog up our energy and thinking.  So get the negative thoughts from the day OUT OF YOUR HEAD and onto paper/blog/somewhere. This single thing can save your sanity which is priceless.

There is a reason why churches have confession, why people sit in traffic to see trusted friends to share their burden, why folks have a therapist for YEARS or go get life coaching. To not do this, creates dysfunction in your head.

If you can't see friends - go write. It's free, you can control it (not dependent on anything), and it provides relief. Try it.

Don't try to be great, just try to be yourself.

So this is a tough one to swallow. We want to reach our potential and achieve. However, if you get so involved in that (workaholism) it gets perverted. You starting "chasing" success and think that being a "success" and being a big shot is what the good life is. No - Jim Rohn once said that success is the achievement of ones own goals. If a man thinks the good life is living in a forest, then if he sets himself to do and does it and is happy - GREAT. Additionally, if you study the REALLY successful people - they are often super obsessed (thats the easiest way to be an expert in your field, just be super myopic) but at a great cost. Rich people have a TON of issues - drugs, poor relationships, trouble with the law, etc.. That being said, one should never call rich people "filthy rich" or look down at them either.

So what am I saying?  Well girls, the thing you need to do is don't chase some OTHER people's success, just try and be yourself. No chasing, but rather being inspired and pulled to do great work.  To do that, if you have a great grand vision (as all these self-help books keep telling you to find or uncover or whatever), then great!  If not, then don't worry.  The secret is simple: "Follow your archetype." Read "Awakening the Heroes Within" by Carol Pearson. Watch some YouTube videos on your achetype (since she goes REALLY in depth). Get enough sense of your archetype and you'll discover what your nature is. And aligning yourself with your nature. Life will be easier as you are living your truth - what you are.

Say whaaat?
